As educators, we often look for novel ways to engage and encourage our students to create and inspire others through their art. We constantly explore what is possible so our students can see themselves as creators, storytellers, and change agents. Dance is the external manifestation of one's emotions, whether joy or pain. As storytellers, we want to share our stories with as many people as possible. Gaming continues to grow exponentially, with the most recent survey showing that over half of the world's population plays games. By combining dance with gaming, students can share their stories with an increasingly growing audience to create connection and community. In this session, we will look at how teachers can help students tell their stories by using their phones, tablets, and computers to capture the motion and emotion of dance. We will also show how to translate these captured videos into game animation assets showing students how to be storytellers in this emerging field.
