Perfect Memory - Imperfect Recall. The Science of Memory and Problems with the Timeline
Description
Why is it so difficult for language students to master the uses of the imperfect and the simple past tenses? This presentation focuses on various techniques and models / maps we can use to better understand and to teach the uses of past tenses in various Romance Languages (Spanish in particular). We will also try to simplify the meaning and uses of the “subjunctive mood” – the “other” problematic concept in language studies. Also included is a discussion of pedagogical approaches to teaching students how, why, and when we use the tenses above and the subjunctive. I will also provide some handy materials for classroom use.
