Name
Teaching the Rhythm of Writing: Parallel Structure
Description
In concert with the Yellowstone Writing Project out of Montana State University in Bozeman, this workshop aims to provide classroom teachers with an alternative to traditional means of teaching grammatical structures - through writing practice. Parallel structure is the rhythm that drives writing, a rhythm that can be taught easily to students with the "write" examples and practice exercises. These activities, usable in the classroom immediately, are designed to help students both hear the rhythms in professional writing and begin work on crafting of these same rhythms in their own writing as the practice.
