Broadening STEM Pathways with Digital Game-Based Learning
Description

To confront challenges facing STEM pathways, and to help middle school and high school students better understand STEM college majors and careers as well as the skills needed to become a STEM professional, scalable educational interventions are needed. In response, in our session, we will highlight the enhanced development of a video game called Crash Course and will share how we added “quests” to the game in which players explore life as a STEM major, and how the game can be used to build STEM literacy. The session will provide an overview of the research on STEM pathways and game-based learning, as well as provide participants an opportunity to explore the game and the STEM majors quests.
