The Power of Primary Sources: Letters between the Willson brothers of Bozeman during the Civil War
Description

Both Lester and Davis Willson served in the Union Army before traveling from New York to Bozeman in 1866-7. The letters include insightful and profound observations made when the Union soldiers encountered Confederate prisoners at a train station in Nashville and observations from Lester's time with Sherman during the March to the Sea. The presenter will share excerpts from those letters and participants will engage in a primary source analysis activity.
