SMART Schools Challenge - Integrating Projects into Established Curriculum
Description

The SMART Schools Challenge (Saving Money and Resources Today) is a K-12 STEAM program established in 2013 and managed by Montana's Department of Environmental Quality. The Challenge focuses on energy/resource efficiency, environmental sustainability, healthy school environments, and career futures. This session will provide an overview of Challenge elements and discuss project designs that can easily integrate into existing lesson plans. There are 10 different student driven project categories to choose from: upcycling, alternative transportation, energy efficiency, renewable energy, air quality, water quality, sustainable agriculture, living classrooms, industrial processes/public infrastructure, and workforce of the future.
