Inquiring Minds Want to Learn: Posing Good Questions to Promote Student Inquiry
Description
What does teaching and learning with an inquiring mind involve? How could we phrase and pose good questions that promote student inquiry? In this presentation, you will learn how to rephrase the performance objectives of academic standards and learning targets into good questions that will set the instructional focus, serve as assessments, and personalize learning. You will also learn how to pose good questions that will "hook" students' interest to learn and guide them down four different pathways to inquiry: Foundational, Understanding, Deep, and Expertise. Most importantly, you will learn how teaching and learning with an inquiring mind ensures the experience is academic and affective for all.
