Globalization is considered one of the most important economic, cultural, and social developments that requires individuals to develop a unique skill set – Cultural Agility. Cultural agility, is not a new, innovative expertise. It is actually a new “packaging” of an old skill set, people used to call cultural competence or cultural savvy. Cultural agility is the ability of a person to learn, understand and successfully operate in different cultures, environments and/or geographical locations. People with cultural agility are able to build trust and gain credibility with individuals outside of their own cultural environment. This might, at first, sounds like a skill set only for those individuals that are traveling outside of their cultural and/or physical boundaries. However, this could not be further from the truth, as cultural agility contributes to make better citizens, regardless of where they are. This seminar will share a new method to an underrepresented topic in K-12, utilizing facts and visuals for teachers who are interested to infuse their curriculum with cultural agility perspectives and content.
