Mark T. Johnson is an associate professor with the University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education, where he prepares and coaches middle and high school teachers across the country. A former high school History and English teacher with fifteen years of classroom experience in the United States and internationally, Johnson used National History Day as a central part of his history instruction and helped launch NHD China in 2008. Raised in Great Falls and now living in Helena, he is the author of The Middle Kingdom under the Big Sky: A History of the Chinese Experience in Montana and continues to support student-centered historical inquiry rooted in Montana, the American West, and global connections.
