Avoiding Schoolslop: Rethinking How We Assess and Teach in the AI World
Description

Schoolslop: submitted student work that takes the teacher longer to assess than it took the student to create. We are now in the "Messy Middle" of AI and education. AI is widely used by students and teachers are frustrated because they can no longer tell what a student has actually learned. I have been experimenting with AI for three years in business, math, and science courses and making alterations to courses to combat the “schoolslop.” I’ll share some easy shifts and solutions that can be implemented quickly with existing curriculum.
