Often called the last best constitution, Montana’s State Constitution is special for both its creation and its commitment to the people of “this and future generations.” Written in 1972 by 100 citizen delegates, including 19 women, Montana’s Constitution is unique among states, guaranteeing Montanans more rights and privileges than the US Constitution. Join this session to learn more about the historical context of our constitution and its lasting importance in protecting the rights of all Montanans. Our constitution also guarantees a right to vote, right to bear arms, right to privacy, and a right to equity that is stronger than the US Constitution.
