This session describes the impact that mosaic art, be it paper mosaic for pre-K-3rd grade to full-fledged mosaic art installation projects like "Buddy Benches" or "Legacy" projects for older students, can have on school communities and the community at large. The message: our school community is like a mosaic. Individually, like mosaic tesserae, we are all unique: different colors, sizes and shapes with varying individual spirits, aspirations and goals. But when we REALLY excel is when we come together in conjunction with one another as a community to form a beautiful work of art planned and created by a broad cross-section of the school community with a purposeful, thoughtful, spirit-driven, permanent art piece as the end result...a mosaic creating a mosaic for the world to see and absorb, now and for future classes to come.
