Name
Citizen Science in Prescribed Burn Landscapes
Description
Citizen science is a great way to engage your students on public lands. Learn how high school students have used Rapid Forest Assessment to collect data quickly and efficiently on changing landscapes. Using local prescribed burn units for their research plots, students have spent the last 5 years monitoring change on forested lands and presenting their findings to managers. High School Biology Teacher, David Tuss, will demonstrate how he has incorporated citizen science into the Biology 2 Classroom. We will practice using models from this project and discuss how you can check out a kit for your own classroom.
