Democracy Dies: The Fall of the Roman Republic
Description

This talk will begin with the murder of Tiberius Gracchus in 133 BC and end with Emperor Augustus in 27 BC. It will highlight the growing political violence, the continued push for reforms, and frequent civil wars. Much of the focus will be on the Gracchus brothers, Gaius Marius vs. Sulla, the 1st Triumvirate, the 2nd Triumvirate, and the civil wars and conflicts that followed.
