Participants will learn about the rationale and resources for teaching children and youth about peace and peacemaking. Tips for integrating books and digital resources into the K-12 curriculum that have themes related to peace will be provided, with a focus on winners of The Jane Addams Children's Book Award. A representative from the Jeannette Rankin Peace Center in Missoula will share the Center's mission and activities to promote peace education. Stories from Montana student activists for peace will inspire participants with ideas for putting peace into action. Participants will have opportunities to share their definitions of peace and collaborate on activities for teaching peace and peacemaking skills to students, aligning peacemaking skills with existing content standards for young children, social-emotional development, and history/government.
