Name
Connecting People & Place in Montana
Description
The "Life in the Land" film series hears from rural communities in Montana, speaking to the value in community-guided and collaborative approaches within the landscape. Filmmaker Lara Tomov will share about the free Lesson Plan that accompanies this series and show how it can be incorporated into subject areas of Social Studies, Environmental Science, Civics, English, Agriculture, Natural Resources, Community Development, and more. Three of the films & lesson plans adhere to the guidelines of Montana Indian Education for All (MIEA). The Life in the Land content allows students to learn about pressures and responses taking place in their own backyard or in other regions of their state. Lara will also share information about Story Workshops that she can bring to the classroom as an artist in residence. These customizable workshops can entail students sharing their stories through written format, public speaking, or entry level video or podcast production.
