This talk will begin with Christopher Columbus and the founding of the Spanish Empire in the Americas and continue with the broader exploration of the New World in the 1500s and 1600s. It will then look at Imperialism in Africa and Asia in the 1800s and 1900s and how it was different from earlier colonialism.
