Name
MCSS Featured Session: The Women of the Montana Constitutional Convention of 1972
Description
Nineteen women were elected as delegates to the Constitutional Convention in 1972. They came from every corner of the state and most carried major issues that became the core of the final document. For example, Dorothy Eck championed the Indian Education for All provision, and Louise Cross advocated for the clean and healthful environment provision. This presentation explores the backgrounds of the 19 women and the impact they had in the crafting of the Constitution and the campaign to convince the public to ratify it by public vote.
