Name
Perspectives Through Printmaking
Description
In the internet age, students are more connected than ever with perspectives from around the globe, yet with the rise of AI and the commodification of online spaces, increasingly disconnected from their own thoughts. Through the medium of printmaking, students will analyze historical and cross cultural examples of communities uniting under one message to enact change and push perspectives. In their own projects, students will critically consider what message they stand behind and how to meaningfully represent it. Learning to use technology is inarguably a critical skill in todays learning environment, though this project allows students the opportunity to work with their hands and their peers in a tangible way with a local focus. This unit is adaptable to three of the recommended thematic AP units: Influences of Beauty and Art (Unit 3), How Science and Technology Affect Our Lives (Unit 4), and Environmental, Political, and Societal Challenges (Unit 6)
