Name
Teaching Sentence Fluency and Grammar through Sentence Imitation
Description
Do some of your students write incomplete, choppy, and/or run-on sentences? If so, you’ll want to explore the strategy of sentence imitation. In this lively workshop, Dr. Beverly Chin demonstrates how carefully selected, well-crafted sentences can be “mentor texts” that help students learn grammar as well as create their own sophisticated sentences. As students gain experience with sentence imitation, they also become more attuned to authors’ writing styles. The strategy of sentence imitation is applicable for writing in different genres/purposes and writing across the curriculum.
