Name
AI, Ethics, and Inquiry: Curriculum Revisions for Reading and Writing in the Age of Co-Intelligence
Description
What does it mean to teach reading and writing in a world shaped by artificial intelligence? This session presents two integrated curriculum revision case studies, one from college-level composition and one from developmental reading and writing, centered on ethically embedding AI into instruction. Participants will explore unit designs using I, Robot, I, Human, and Grit, where students critically engage with AI as both subject and tool. We will discuss how to structure AI use to support struggling readers and writers, promote metacognition, and uphold academic integrity. Educators will leave with classroom-tested prompts, rubrics, and syllabus policies to guide ethical AI use across grade levels and learning environments.
