Name
Evaluating Student Writing: MUSWA Training Materials for the Classroom
Description
This session draws on the experience of leaders from the Montana University System Writing Assessment, which was administered from 2001-2012 and scored by over 300 teachers each spring. After a brief recap of the impact of the program and sharing current assessment practices, participants will score and discuss one essay, analyze the correlation of a rubric and an annotation, and explore ways this process can be used in the classroom for peer review and revision. Participants may take a set of training notebooks for classroom use or as a model for developing a district writing assessment.
