Name
From Screen to Classroom: Implementing Inclusion Strategies with 'CARL THE COLLECTOR’
Description
CARL THE COLLECTOR is an animated series for ages 4-8 and is the first show featuring a lead character on the autism spectrum. Carl is a sweet and caring raccoon who lives in Fuzzytown and likes to collect things like stickers and bottle caps. This new program in the PBS KIDS® lineup values inclusion and empathy while modeling relationship building and social skill development. Teachers can enlist Carl and his unique group of friends as “media mentors” as they help students better understand the experiences of neurodiverse children. Learn more about CARL THE COLLECTOR and explore a rich collection of digital learning materials available for teachers for FREE on PBS platforms including videos, digital games and classroom activities. Participants in this session will have an opportunity to explore creative approaches to inclusion in the elementary classroom using media and digital learning tools.
