Name
STEM Sparks: Real-World Problem Solving for Young Learners
Description
Discover how even our youngest students can think like engineers, mathematicians, and problem solvers! In this hands-on session, participants will explore ways to integrate STEM and mathematical modeling into daily classroom routines using low-cost materials and high-engagement tasks. From building snack-sharing solutions in kindergarten to calculating field trip costs in fifth grade, you'll leave with ready-to-implement activities that are rooted in real-world questions kids care about. Highlights include task ideas by grade level, favorite classroom materials, and how to use coding robots like Tale-Bot and Botley, even in classrooms without screens. You’ll also get access to a full modeling project adaptable to any holiday, blending math, economics, creativity, and SEL. Come ready to collaborate, tinker, and reimagine what STEM can look like in your classroom no matter your students’ age or your resource level.
