This session focusses on digitally created characters, powered by artificial intelligence, that represents a typical learner with specific characteristics, learning styles, and needs. Utilizing AI-powered personas allows educators to tailor learning experiences and content to better suit individual students, creating a more personalized learning environment. By tailoring content to individual needs, AI personas can lead to increased learner engagement and improved performance. AI personas can increase student engagement in role-plays, by making learning content more relevant, thus fostering a deeper connection with the material and encouraging active participation. Furthermore, AI personas can help teachers in creating innovative and highly engaging educational exercises for group projects, allowing for more efficient and effective learning experiences for students. This technology can incorporate real-life situations and examples that resonate with the learner's specific background and experiences, making the learning process more meaningful. Last, but certainly not least, AI can create a more interactive learning environment by simulating conversations and allowing students to “interview” a virtual persona, who can connect to material presented by the teacher, discussions and readings and even answer questions in a relatable manner. AI personas also have the potential to improve performance, by allowing for the creation of more targeted and relevant teaching materials. This can lead to increased knowledge retention, and improved skill development for individual learners, as well as for group learning.
