Speaker Bio
Pat Liedes has always loved science, so becoming a science teacher was a natural career choice. She has a B.S. in chemistry from the University of West Georgia and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Montana. She is in her ninth year of teaching the physical sciences at Powell County High School in Deer Lodge, Montana.

Before becoming a teacher, Pat spent time as a stay-at-home mom when her three children were small. She returned to college at the age of 30, and began working as a lab assistant in the chemistry department of the local community college she was attending, Gordon College. As she moved on to the University of West Georgia, she continued to work as a lab assistant. She also did research during her undergraduate years in the area of chemical education. She did analytical chemistry research into explosives detection as part of her graduate work at UM. She has also done quite a bit of tutoring over the years, mainly in science and language arts.

When she is not teaching, Pat enjoys spending time in the outdoors, viewing wildlife and collecting rocks. She also enjoys cooking, reading and playing cribbage. She and her husband value family time and dote on their 10 grandchildren.
