Speaker Bio
Serena Wright is the Title III English Language Acquisition Program Specialist for the State of Montana.
Throughout Serena’s 18+ years teaching career, she worked with students who were English Learners, Socio-Economically Disadvantaged, and/or Migratory in rural and urban districts.
In a small, rural district, Serena was the English Learner Coordinator, where her duties included more than teaching language. She ensured that students and families understood the school system and had access to resources to meet their needs. Serena realized she wanted to make positive systematic impacts on students, families, and districts on a larger scale.
Her position at the Office of Public Instruction as the Title III Program Specialist is the perfect role for Serena because she can continue the work she loves, surrounded by district staff who have the same deep care for vulnerable families.
