Francisco Virella teaches at Billings Senior HS covering subject like Computer Programming, IT, Cybersecurity, Graphics, Video Editing, and the like. He has also lectured at both Rocky Mountain College, MSUB, College of Southern Nevada, and Broward College, covering topics ranging from Software Engineering, Operating Systems, Artificial Intelligence, and Programming. Prior to that he taught programming, graphics, IT/CyberSecurity and Video Editing for the school district in Las Vegas as well as for a small college in Las Vegas, NV. Having worked in tech since his college days (88-92), Virella has presented at several conferences throughout his career and he has also done in-house training for the organizations he has worked for throughout his career.

Moreover, as an administrator at the collegiate level for 20 years, Virella served as Chief Academic Officer in a multi-campus college for nearly a decade, and was in charge of faculty development, presenting and coaching faculty on teaching methods as well as on the use of technology in the classroom, for over a decade. He currently teaches the two most demanded languages (JavaScript and Python) and still does tech consulting on an adhoc basis. On the topic of AI, Virella believes that AI is not even close to being ready for the things that the media is overhyping and instead takes the view that AI will augment our lives for an even better future. Lastly, Virella holds three degrees BBA in Finance, MA in Geographic Information Systems, and and Ed.S. in Education Leadership. Of note, Virella’s master’s thesis was rooted in Intelligent Transportation Systems, several years before Google Maps and Waze were everyday digital consumer tools.
