Tammy Tolleson Knee, LCSW, EdS, serves as the School Support Liaison and a Project Director at the Montana Safe Schools Center (MSSC), based within the University of Montana's Department of Education. She leads the VAST (Virtually Assisted School Teams) program and is a certified trainer for the I Love U Guys Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol and Reunification. Tammy is also a QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Instructor and certified by NABITA in the use of the SIVRA-35 tool.

Her work includes providing training in behavioral threat assessment, de-escalation, standard response, and crisis management. She also conducts comprehensive school safety and emergency preparedness assessments. Tammy is actively engaged in a research collaboration between the Montana Office of Public Instruction and the PJW College of Education, focused on identifying factors that positively influence school attendance.

With over 30 years of experience as a Licensed School Counselor and Clinical Social Worker across three states and various educational environments, Tammy brings deep expertise in mental health and school safety interventions. She has supervised graduate social work interns and taught both undergraduate and graduate courses.

When she’s not supporting schools or pranking coworkers, Tammy enjoys hiking, spending time with her family, and persuading her husband to join her in her latest home remodeling adventure.
