For teachers and schools who are interested in having a science fair, having students compete in regional or state science fairs, having students conduct their own research, of are just interested in learning more this session will provide an overview of all that is involved. We will start with information about why students conducting independent research is critical to developing an understanding of how science and engineering work in the real world. We will review the differences between good and bad students research, how to facilitate their research, even in young grades or large classes, and how to structure the projects. I will also share templates that I use for students. Finally, I will describe different programs across the state and how these are facilitated.
