Description

This program offers an overview of Northern Cheyenne cultural beliefs and history, from their creation traditions to 1875. Based on a wide array of publicly accessible materials, this workshop will give participants a chance to explore the rich history of the Northern Cheyenne. This program is part of the American Indian Tribal HIstories Project at the Western Heritage Center; all materials were gathered and/or developed by Northern Cheyenne scholars and interviewers. This program is a precursor to the Fort Robinson Breakout story, and gives much needed background and an excellent introduction to Northern Cheyenne cosmology, values, and traditions. Additional hands-on and multi-media Teacher Resources for Northern Cheyenne education will be available.
