Name
English Learners: Creating an Inclusive & Supportive Environment to Help Them Thrive!
Description

Montana schools consist of a growing number of English Learners (now more commonly referred to as Multilingual Learners,) either born in the U.S. or who have arrived here as immigrants, refugees, or asylum seekers. With a rich array of experiences, hopes and dreams, these English learners also have unique needs. How can we as educators and/ or school counselors support these students socially and emotionally while also expanding the capacity for our school staff to understand and empathize with this population? This presentation explores English Learners in Montana, how we can directly support their social and emotional needs, and advocate for them in our schools and communities.
