Speaker Bio
Elana works as the Educaiton Coordinator for the Friends of the GNFAC. She holds a Master’s in Education with a focus on Place-Based Education and brings years of experience teaching middle and high school science as well as working as a field educator for outdoor programs. She has designed and taught a snow science curriculum to grade-level students over the past five Montana winters, introducing them to snowpack metamorphism, stability testing, and avalanche forecasting. With a background in science education, a passion for snow, and a commitment to inclusive outreach, Elana is excited to connect new audiences with avalanche education. She believes in sparking curiosity, empowering learners, and helping people build meaningful connections to natural spaces. In her free time, you’ll find her skiing with glitter on her cheeks and trying to take her couch potato dog on reluctant adventures.
