About Montana Association of Language Teachers
Founded in 1954, the association provides its members with pedagogical assistance and linguistic resources for language instruction at elementary, secondary, and university levels. The member organization has an annual conference in the spring, workshops in conjunction with the MFPE Educator Conference in October, and provides a website and dynamic community full of resources. MALT is a constituent of the Pacific Northwest Council on Foreign Languages (PNCFL) and the American council on the Teaching of ForeignLanguages (ACTFL).
About Montana Library Association
MLA is a statewide organization of over 900 librarians, retired librarians, trustees, friends of libraries, and library students who share a love of libraries. MLA members work to promote outstanding librarianship and library services to meet knowledge needs in every part of the state. MLA works with the Montana State Library in offering solid programs, continuing education opportunities, promotions, and services for the benefit of all types of libraries in the state.
MLA Conference Excitement
MLA will be co-hosting with MATELA and WPUB.
About Writing Projects Under the Big Sky
Writing Projects Under the Big Sky (WPUBS) is the label that captures the three National Writing Project (NWP) satellite sites in Montana: Montana Writing Project (Missoula), Yellowstone Writing Project (Bozeman), and Elk River Writing Project (Billings). Housed on college campuses and committed to preparing teacher-leaders, these Writing Project sites share a national program model while also remaining flexible and responsive to the needs of teachers and students in their local contexts.
WPUBS Conference Excitement
For the MFPE Educator Conference every October, we bring together experienced teachers of different grade levels and disciplines, inviting them to share their successful teaching strategies, activate an inquiry stance toward educational challenges, and innovate and test new approaches and ideas. We invite you to attend a WPUBS sectional where you will:
- Explore current and foundational research of writing as a tool for thinking and learning
- Engage in inquiry through writing, reading, questioning, or reflecting
- Discover strategies for empowering students to be producers of knowledge
- Learn and apply Indian Education for All philosophies in a local setting
